Aum Namo Bhagavathe Shri Ramayana!
Today’s luncheon was held at Saraswathy Illam – Ramanalayam with a large gathering of devotees. There were three different significant events at today’s luncheon. In addition to the usual devotional Parayanam, Aradhana, Offering of flowers and Lunch, the Principals and Teachers responsible for the Saraswathy Scholarship Program (SSP) were felicitated and our new monthly Medical Camp which is to be held every 3rd Sunday of the month was introduced to the gathering. The weekly food rations under the Ramana Akshaya Food Program was distributed to the elderly as usual.
Today’s luncheon was sponsored by four different friends of Saraswathy – Ramanalayam.
- Mr Navaseelan of Malaysia, celebrating his birthday on the 24th of this month
- Mrs Arunothayam Chandravathany of Germany in memory of Mr Thurairasa Sriskaran, who passed on 7 years ago on the 13th of September
- Mr Mahilan Chandran of Kottaikadu, Mallakam in memory of his father Mr Baan Chandran, and
- Mr Sivananthan Sangarapillai of UK in memory of his mother Mrs Nagarathinam Sangarapillai who passed on 14 years ago on the 14th of September.
Medical Camp
At today’s luncheon a proposed medical camp to be held at Saraswathy Illam – Ramanalayam was introduced to the devotees present. As a primary assessment program Drs Yoheswaran Vaithilingam and Dr Mrs Yarlini Yoheswaran have volunteered to visit the Ashram each third Sunday of the month which coincides with the Luncheon (3rd Sunday) will advice patients on prevention and mitigation of, primarily non-communicable diseases. The service will be free of charge and available to all people living in the area.
The Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of Health for the Tellippalai Division, Dr Gokulan addressed the devotees and highlighted the need for such screening services within the community to reduce the demand for general reference at Government Hospitals. Dr Yoheswaran reiterated the need for education amongst population for preventive medicine and sound healthy practices. The program will commence on 16th of October.
