Greetings from Saraswathy Illam – Ramanalayam. As the next phase of the Project Eye Opener, following the Eye clinic conducted at our Ashram on 27th Nov. 2022, a group of patients identified with immediate need to treat their cataract, visited the STS Eye hospital in Jaffna yesterday (8th Jan). After biometric measurements were taken, cataract operations were performed on a batch of patients successfully. Yet, some others were further referred to use corrective glasses, which are non-standard. More patients were requested to make appointments for further treatment. All this has been done at a heavily sunsidised cost with only charges being asked to cover the cost of lense and disposable surgical equipment. As such, Dr Chandrakumar and his medical team have been extremely generous in assisting these people in the Valikamam North area with restoring their Vision for a more purposeful life.
Saraswathy Illam – Ramanalayam is indebted to Dr Chandrakumar and his team, the organisation We Care, We Share and the number of donors from across the world who were generous enough to make this Project Eye Opener fruitful.
With the remaining donations received, the Ashram will continue to serve those who need attention with eye sight and other urgent medical conditions. A s the next step, where corrective glasses are required, the Ashram will ensure proper prescriptive eye wear is provided to those in need.
