Aum Namo Bhagavathe Shri Ramanaya
At Ramanalayam, Sri Lanka, a solemn ceremony to celebrate the 144th Jayanthi day of Ramana Maharshi was held yesterday (28th December). The proceedings began with the recital of Ramana’s Arunachala Akshara Manamalai and was followed by a satsang on Ramana Maharshi’s teachings on Escaping the Cycle of Birth and Death. Expanding on the 74th verse of Arunachala Akshara Manamalai, (Pokkum Varavumil Pothu Veliyinil Arul Porattam Kattu Arunachala), the discussion centred around the True and Sole Purpose of each of us Taking this life. Following the pooja and offering of flowers of Bhagavan all who joined together in the celebrations, partook in the lunch.
All who attended the Jayanthi celebrations were presented with a “Ponnavarai” (cassia occidentalis) seedling, a plant of high medicinal value to take home. The seedlings were presented by Ms Nalinasini Suren, one of Bhagavan’s devotees.
Two songs recently recorded by Ramanalayam, Sri Lanka were also released on YouTube, on this auspicious day of Bhagavan’s Jayanthi. One is a meditative chant of Aum Namo Bhagavathe Shri Ramanaya and the other is an Aarthi song, Arunai Maha Jothiye. The YouTube releases were shown to all the devotees present on wide screen.
